Critiquing Events

1, 2 or 3 day courses designed to teach Managers, Supervisors, Professionals and Wokers how to effectively conduct critiques of workplaces accidents and incidents.

Topics include: Definitions, Conducting the Critique, Effective Questioning in a Group, Analyzing Information, Writing the Report. The 3 day course includes the conduct of a mock critique.

Occurrence Reporting and Accident Investigation in the DOE Environment

3 or 5 day courses designed to teach Managers, Supervisors, Professionals and Workers how to investigate and report an incident or accident within the DOE complex, to determine its root causes, and to develop effective means of preventing recurrence.

Topics include: Occurrence Reporting Procedures and Definitions, Preserving the Scene, Gathering Information, Interviewing Skills, 3 techniques for Analyzing Information, Improving Human Performance in the Workplace, Writing the Report and Oral Briefings. Practical exercises are coordinated with each lesson and are geared to the client's environment withing the DOE complex, so attendees have a directly-applicable learning experience.

The 5 day course includes a case study which runs throughout the course and includes role-played interviewing with the instructor in a one-on-one environment. This course also includes 2 additional techniques for investigating major accidents and fatalities and a final oral presentation by the students presenting the findings of their investigation.
